Paul Maynard Marshall

Mr. Paul Maynard Marshall, 74, of Ararat, VA, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Marshall was born May 13, 1935, in Patrick County, VA, to Guy and Julie Light Marshall. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, Doris Coble Marshall of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Tim Cassady of Ararat, VA, and Benita and Jack Bryant of Galax, VA; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Cindy Marshall of Battlecreek, MI, Ricky and Beatrice Marshall of Ararat, VA, and David and Zara Goad of Asheboro; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Jeanette Marshall of Meadows of Dan, VA; and special friends, Sammy Large, Bill Beasley, and Perk King. In addition to his parents, Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by a sister, Olley Marshall; and brothers, Dewey Marshall, Layton Marshall, Wesley Marshall, Garfield Marshall, Leonard Marshall, and Glenn Marshall. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Alan Paige and the Rev. Odell White officiating. Burial will follow in New Beginnings Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
