Mr. Paul O'Brien O'Neal, Sr., 84, of 3822 Talcott Avenue, Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. O'Neal was born January 30, 1924, in Surry County, son of the late Benjamin Harrison O'Neal and Esther Mae Ring O'Neal. He retired from the Burlington Police Department, after more than 30 years of service, and had served as chief of police. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Violet Edwards O'Neal of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul O'Brien, O'Neal, Jr. and Lucy of Pfafftown; four grandchildren, Paul O'Brien O'Neal, III and spouse, B.C., Maggie O'Neal, Robert O'Neal and spouse, Josey, and Michael O'Neal; four great-grandchildren, Ciara Beck, Ginny Wilson, Haley O'Neal, and Anna O'Neal; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara and Harold Bodenhamer of Winston-Salem and Lorene Todd of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 29, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Chuck Harmon, and burial will follow in the Willow Hill Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Friday from 12:30 until the time of the service.
