Mr. Paul Harding Scott Age 86 of Mt. Airy passed away on Wednesday January 23, 2008 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Mt. Airy, on July 21, 1921. he was the son of the late Charlie and Lucinda Hooker Scott. He is survived by his wife of 55 Years Helen Clark Scott of the home, one daughter Margaret Scott Frye of Winston Salem, Four grandchildren Anthony Scott Frye of Lexington, Todd Shannon Frye and wife Michelle of Mt. Airy, Lynette Frye Connelly of Clemmons and Melissa Frye McMillian and husband Anthony of Hillsville, Twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, three brothers Herbert Scott and wife Gail of St. Augustine, FL., Deward Scott and wife Louise of Mt. Airy and Carl Scott of Laurel Fork, five sisters Nellie Marion, Mary Jessup, Ava Hutchens all of Mt. Airy, Irene Tilley of Rural Hall and Alyene Young and husband Haywood of Mt. Airy and two sisters-in-law Joellen Scott of Winston Salem and Ruth Scott of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his first wife Anna Dean Kirkman Scott, two brothers J. C. Scott and Gene Scott and by two sisters Helen Key and Hazel McMillian.
Mr. Scott was employed at Bray's Recapping Service for nearly 40 Years. He served the US Government in Newport News Shipyard for 3 years during WWII. He was also employed with Town Tire Service for 24 years. He attended Indian Grove Baptist Church. Paul had great dedication to God, family, friends and life. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. The family wishes to thank Dr. Roger Kerley, and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center staff for all of their kindness and support during Paul illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 26, 2008 at 1:00 P.M at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel with services conducted by Rev. Tommy Floyd and Rev. Jimmy Slate with burial to follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night 7 to 9 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
