Mr. Paul Folger Whitaker, 90, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 8, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Whitaker was born August 18, 1925, in Surry County, to the late Emery Marvin and Ellen Hudson Whitaker. Paul retired as a night watchman and was a member of Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Dobson. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Burton Amey of Mount Airy and Shirley and Ronald Rogers of Dobson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul David Whitaker of Kernersville and the Rev. Jack Junior and Loula "Crystal" Whitaker of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ellen Graham of Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his wife, Pansy Arizona Coe Whitaker; a daughter, Violet Mae Whitaker; a son, Joseph Ray Whitaker; a sister, Addie Virginia Stanley; and three brothers, Julius Whitaker, Robbie Whitaker, and Wesley Whitaker. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Junior Whitaker officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 10:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Louise and Burton Amey at 647 Willow Street, Mount Airy.
