Mrs. Paula Katherine Scott Johnson, 93, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Johnson was born April 7, 1929, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Paul and Mildred Spinks Scott. Paula grew up in Birmingham, graduated from Ensley High School, and attended Auburn University. She and her husband, Wally Johnson, moved to Mount Airy in 1950, where they raised their family. She retired from Pine State Knitwear and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Surviving are her children, Kathy Outlaw, Allen Johnson, and Libby Lovill and her husband, Bobby; her grandchildren, Allen Lovill, Scott Outlaw and his wife, Erin, Mary Ellen Graham and her husband, Charlie, Erin Borgeson and her husband, Tristan, Anna Coly and her husband Rob, Lizzie Morrison and her husband, Luke, Matt Johnson and his wife Kaylan, and Cobb Outlaw and his wife, Annie; her great-grandchildren, Beau Graham, Wally Outlaw, Libby Graham, Tredan Borgeson, Henry Borgeson, Ella Morrison, Sylvie Morrison, Leif Borgeson, Dottie Coly, Hank Johnson, Evan Outlaw, and Ellie Outlaw; and two sisters, Ann Scott Crumpton and Marion Scott Cecil. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace A. “Wally” Johnson, Sr.; a grandson, Robert Lovill; a son-in-law, Beau Outlaw; and a sister, Emily O’Reilly. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 472 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Johnson family.
