Mrs. Pauline Parker Badgett, 94, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday evening, April 11, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Badgett was born June 12, 1928, in Surry County, the older of two daughters born to the late Lonnie Edward and Mary Edna Simmons Parker.  Pauline graduated from Surry Community College and received her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University.  She continued her education at Appalachian State University, earning her master’s degree in education.  She was employed by Mount Airy City Schools for one year and Surry County Schools for 25 years.  Pauline was a volunteer for Yokefellow Ministries and a lifetime volunteer for Northern Regional Hospital.  One of her greatest loves was genealogy.  She worked with the Surry County Genealogy Society answering information about the county.  She also was instrumental in helping publish two volumes of The Heritage of Surry County, North Carolina.  She is survived by two daughters, Paula Badgett Mutton (Tom) and Cynthia Badgett McBride (Ramey); and two sons-in-law, David Sykes and Gary Blake.  She was blessed by seven grandchildren, Stephanie Slate (Joey), Josh Sykes (Charla), Kristin Blake, Charlie Blake (Liz), Alison Lane (Joshua), Sarah Fuschich (Kevin), and Trey McBride (Bailey).  She also had nine great-grandchildren, Barrett Slate, Natalie Slate, Reagan Latham, Jackson Lane, Jameson Lane, Jude Fuschich, Brice Fuschich, Avaleigh Norrell, and Rawley McBride, IV.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Badgett was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Rex Badgett; two daughters, Susan Badgett Sykes and Rebecca Badgett Blake; a son-in-law, David Lee Milton; a sister, Rachel Parker Hill (Rev. J. Cecil Hill); and a nephew, Jim Hill.  A service of worship and celebration of Pauline’s life will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alex L. Martin officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the church.  The family greatly appreciates the love and care shown by the staff at Ridgecrest Retirement Community and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
