Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Bruner Johnson, 88, of 1452 Old Highway 601, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Johnson was born June 4, 1921, in Surry County, to the late Curtis and Oma Bruner. She was a homemaker and a member of White Plains Friends Meeting. Surviving are two grandchildren and their spouses, Karen and David Holland of Walnut Cove and Randall and Angie Faw of Mount Airy; four great-grandchildren, Allysia Trindade, Jacob Trindade, and Jared Trindade, all of Walnut Cove, and Cody Faw of Mount Airy; a sister, Ruth Mills of White Plains; a brother and sister-in-law, D.C. and Estelle Bruner of Whites Plains; and a son-in-law, Arnold Faw of Danville, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ernest Johnson; a daughter, Linda Draughn Faw; a son, Edwin Lionel Johnson; and a brother, Coy Bruner. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at 2:00 PM at White Plains Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Jake Penley officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. There will be no formal visitation held at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
