Pauline Elizabeth (Watson) Mitchell

Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Watson Mitchell, age 85 of Mount Airy passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Mitchell was born on September 29, 1938, in Patrick County to the late Jesse and Vadie Lynch Watson. Pauline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving is her husband of 24 years, Jack Dowell Mitchell; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Elizabeth Tarn and Mark; daughter-in-law, Virginia Marie Gilbert Jurney; grandchildren, Nickeilah Tarn Waclawczyk, Taylor Nicole Tarn, Zachary Chad Jurney, Heather Cartrette, Dana Martinez; two great-grandchildren, Rosie Cartrette, Brandon Martinez; two sisters, Jeraldine Watson Midkiff, Wanda Watson Deatherage; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Francis Jurney, Gary Matthew Jurney; sisters, Annie Watson McBride, Jean Watson Lindsay; along with an infant sister. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Unity Church Cemetery, 2874 Unity Church Road, Ararat, Virginia with Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating. No formal visitation will be held at this time. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and American Health Care Services for the amazing care they provided to Mrs. Mitchell.
