Mrs. Pauline Frances Hall Parker, 99, of Mount Airy, widow of Walter J. Parker, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the Golden Living Center. Mrs. Parker was born in Patrick County on October 31, 1908 to the late John Robert and Lucy Mills Hall. Mrs. Parker graduated from Radford University, taught school in several Virginia school systems including, Carroll, Patrick and Grayson Counties; she went on to work for Clark and Parker Lumber Co. where she was the secretary and retired from public work at the age of 84. Surviving are two grandsons and spouses Brad and Jean Dorsett and Jimmy and Janet Dorsett all of Mt. Airy, six great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Cassie Piedmont of Mt. Airy, a brother and sister-in-law Glenn and Jean Hall of Powhatan, VA., and a son-in-law Eddie Dorsett of Mt. Airy. In addition to her husband and her parents Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by a daughter Frances Louise Dorsett and by a brother Cecil Hall. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Salem United Methodist Church with services conducted by Rev. Bud Cameron with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service at the Salem United Methodist Church. The family would like to give a special thank you to The Golden Living Center and to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their love and care they gave Mrs. Parker In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 124 Myers Dr. Mt. Airy, NC. 27030.
