Pauline Moxley Puckett

Mrs. Pauline Moxley Puckett, age 96 of Mount Airy passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkin. Mrs. Puckett was born on March 30, 1926, in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Garnie and Levora Lowe Moxley.  Pauline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  Mrs. Puckett was of the Primitive Baptist faith.  She was known for her cooking, especially on holidays and family gatherings, where she enjoyed cooking her grandchildren’s favorite foods: meatloaf, potato salad, squash casserole and pumpkin pies.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  She is survived by two special daughters, Shelby Puckett Canter of Mount Airy, NC, Helen Puckett Dalton of Mount Airy, NC; special grandchildren, Ron and Susan Cockerham of Mount Airy, NC, Robin and Ed Jones of Wake Forest, NC, Regina and Michael Dixon of Randleman, NC, Russell and Susie Cockerham, Mount Airy, NC, Michael and Stacee Dalton of Mocksville, NC; ten special great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one special sister, Eva Jean Moxley Smith of Mount Airy, NC; a sister-in-law, Lucille Puckett Riggans of White Plains, NC ; along with several special nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Puckett; a special son-in-law, Thomas Dalton; a special granddaughter, Lisa Dalton Jordan; a special great-grandson, Joshua Jones; two sisters, Lorene Moxley Hooker, Audene Moxley; one brother, Eugene Moxley; and a special nephew, Randall Smith.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Elder Carlton Brown, Elder Lowell Hopkins, and Elder John Lyons officiating.  Interment will follow in the Fisher’s Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Fisher’s Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery c/o Melinda Shumate, 365 Fairview Road, Galax, Virginia 24333.  Attendees are asked to wear masks at both the funeral service and the visitation. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with Mrs. Puckett’s arrangements.
