Pauline Pruitt Pyles

Mrs. Pauline Pruitt Pyles, 92, of Mount Airy, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday night, February 18, 2016. Mrs. Pyles was born July 25, 1923, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Willie A. and Ida Collins Pruitt. Pauline retired from Pike Inc. after many years of service and was a member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Pete and Jackie Pyles of Sparta and Vic and Kathleen Pyles of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren and their spouses, Angie and Greg Comer of Pfafftown, Dean and Heather Pyles of Galax, VA, Dana and Chris Davis of Clemmons, and Kevin and Derina Pyles of Westfield; nine great-grandchildren, Alexandra Pyles, Carmen Smith, Cole Davis, Gracie Comer, Hylea Pyles, Kage Pyles, Kaleah Pyles, Noah Comer, and Whittany Pyles; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pyles was preceded in death by her husband, Victor G. Pyles, Sr.; a son, Ronald Dean Pyles, Sr.; a sister, Ruth Willey; and four brothers, Claude Pruitt, Albert Pruitt, Ernest Pruitt, and Jim Pruitt. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 22, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Vic Pyles and Pete Pyles officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Tina Leonard and Anita Wallace.
