Pauline "Polly" Simmons

Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Simmons age 92 of 1076 Flat Ridge Road, Cana, VA widow of Mr. William Bruce Simmons passed away Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born July 29, 1919 in Carroll County to the late Sanders Carter Gray and Delia Florence Porter Gray. Mrs. Simmons worked along beside her husband for many years on their cattle farm. She was a graduate of the 1940 class of Martin Memorial School of Nursing and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Gray and John William Vogler, Mt. Airy, a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. W.B. "Skip" Simmons, Jr. and Dr. Karen Webber, New Orleans, LA, six grandchildren and spouses, Polly and Rodney Moss, Franklin, TN, Lane and James Demos, Asheville, NC, W.B. "Trey" Simmons, III Asheville, NC, Kari and Franklin Brown, Brentwood, TN , Alison and Thomas Hunter, Jr., Brentwood, TN and Sarah and Scott Patton, Marietta, GA., nine great grandchildren, Jared Moss, Erin Moss, Derek Patton, Maxwell Patton, Lindy Hunter, Madelyn Hunter, Polly Kate Brown, Grayson Demos and Liam Demos, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Irene and Eliot Marcellus, Pulaski, VA, and Daphna Mitchell, Lynchburg, VA, a brother and sister-in-law, Sanders Carter and Rubye Gray, Jr., Columbia, SC. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November, 20, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Dr. Roger Gilbert. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:30 PM Sunday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home.
