Mrs. Pearl Faye Potts Creed, 93, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, March 28, 2021, at Ridgecrest Retirement Community. Mrs. Creed was born September 20, 1927, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Mahala “Dillie” Smith Potts. Pearl was a homemaker, gardener, and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the oldest member of Dover Baptist Church. Pearl lived her life as a devoted Christian. 2 Timothy 4:7 reads, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” She loved to laugh, joke, and talk with family, friends, and whoever would listen. She loved our Lord with all of her heart and prayed for her family daily. She is survived by her daughters, Louise (Wade) Shelton of Mount Airy and Geneva “G’neaver” (Terry) Hutchens of Pilot Mountain; her grandchildren, Delana (Richard) Flynn of Ararat, Patrina “Triner” (Paul) Kayanek of Pilot Mountain, Rekenna “Kenner” (Timmy) Holt of Pinnacle, and Will (Buffey) Moore of Pinnacle; her stepgrandchildren, Trent (Stephanie) Hutchens of Dobson, Tim (Alisha) Hutchens of Pinnacle, and Tray (Gina) Hutchens of Ararat; her great-grandchildren, Casey Flynn and Suzanna Flynn, both of Ararat, Alexis Holt and Cierra Holt, both of Pinnacle, Braiden “Lil Boy” Hunter of Pilot Mountain, and Calvin Sam Moore of Pinnacle; her future great-great-grandchild, Baby Cox; her great-stepgrandchildren, Noah Hutchens of Pilot Mountain, Lucas Hutchens of Dobson, Jake Hutchens of Ararat, and Bella Hutchens and Jon Hutchens, both of Pinnacle; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her “saved” grand-dog, Romo. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Creed was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jesse Wilford Creed; five sisters, Gertie Potts, Carrie Welborn, Ollie Key, Mammie Atkins, and Minnie Mustin; and a brother, Troy Potts. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Jones and the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
