Mrs. Pearlie Carlettea Childress Doss, age 103 passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 10, 2014. She was born in Forsyth County on June 13, 1910 to the late William and Rosa Wall Childress. Mrs. Doss was a simple, godly lady who dedicated her life to her family and her service for the Lord. She was married to the love of her life, Jessie James Doss for 81 years. He preceded her in death in 2011. Together, they worked side by side reaping the harvest of the land and raising their family with strict morals and instruction. Their struggles were many, but their rewards were great. Surviving are their children, Gladys Johnson of Dobson, Jean and husband James Robertson of Mount Airy, Brenda and husband David Allison of Thomasville and Curtis Doss of High Point; fourteen grandchildren,Ray,Eddie, Brian, Rick, Janice, Mitchell, Kevin, Keith, Hank, Donnie, Gregory, Rebecca, Teresa and Mark; twenty one great-grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Derek, Melissa, Chelsea, Brittney, Jason, Eric, Jesse, Justin, Charity, Justin, Allen, Stephen, Nicole, Breanna, Abbie, Dylon, Angel, Adam and Kari; five great-great grandchildren, Raylee, Braylynn, Bailey, Anthony and Kameron. In addition to her husband and parents, a daughter, Stacy Doss; two sons, Howard and Larry Doss; three sisters; three brothers and two grandsons, Mark Robertson and Ricky Johnson preceded her in death. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, February 16, 2014 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by her beloved grandsons, the Rev Mitchell Robertson, the Rev. Hank Robertson and Brian Doss. Burial will follow in Stony Knoll United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday February 17,2014 and other times at the home of her home. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mrs. Doss to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200 Mount Airy, NC 27030.
