Peggy Ann Eaton

Miss Peggy Ann Eaton, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, March 2, 2023, at Central Continuing Care, surrounded by her family.  Miss Eaton was born August 18, 1937, in Surry County, one of seven children born to the late Joseph Edgar and Dora Ella Atkins Eaton.  Peggy enjoyed life and meeting new people, oftentimes creating longtime friendships.  Her family and friends considered her a true social butterfly, and they will remember her loving, warm, and friendly personality.  She is survived by three special nieces and their husbands, Gloria “Cookie” Crews, Theresa and Larry Davis, and Paula and Vernon Norman; and her loyal companion, Sugar the dog.  In addition to her parents, Miss Eaton was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ruth Eaton Cooke; five brothers, Orbie Eaton, Ed Eaton, Elbert Eaton, Vance Eaton, and Hobert Eaton; and a nephew-in-law, Zeb Crews.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Central Continuing Care and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.  No formal visitation will be held.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
