Peggy Gean Handy

Mrs. Peggy Gean Sechrist Handy, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning, June 18, 2020, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  Mrs. Handy was born March 7, 1938, in Surry County, to the late Charlie Franklin “Ruben” Sechrist and Bessie Irene Johnson Sechrist.  She was a loving farmers wife and a faithful member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.  She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Osler Ray Handy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Rick Jackson, and Angie and Harold Hooker; a son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Crystal Handy; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Martha Sechrist; and by a sister-in-law, Beadie Smith.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Handy was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Ray Sechrist.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Dr. Rick Jackson officiating.  The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 until time to leave for the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Handy family.
