Peggy Simmons Lowe

Mrs. Peggy Simmons Lowe, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Lowe was born July 5, 1927, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Robert Columbus and Lizzie Jones Simmons. Peggy retired as a belt captain from Spencer’s Inc. after 35 years of service. She was a dedicated Christian and a member of Dover Baptist Church. Peggy faithfully served as the church pianist for nearly 20 years. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy “Kitty” and Ronnie Easter of Cana, VA, and Liz and Dr. Bruce Walley of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Nell Davis Lowe of Dobson; her grandchildren, Tammy and Brent Tilley and Travis Lowe, all of Mount Airy, the Rev. Joseph and Lori Easter of Ararat, VA, Sarah Bowman of Radford, VA, and Jason Easter, Anna and Brandon Jones, and Jacob Easter, all of Cana, VA; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Simmons Link of Kannapolis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bill Lowe; a son, Joe Lynn Lowe; and three brothers, Bobby Simmons, Jimmie L. Simmons, Sr., and Richard Thomas Simmons, Sr. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Dover Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joseph Easter, the Rev. Larry Jones, and Dr. Bruce Walley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
