Peggy Ruth Hamlin Whitaker

Mrs. Peggy Ruth Hamlin Whitaker, age 85, of Siloam, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at her home. She was born in Surry County on May 7, 1936 to the late Ed and Linnie McMillian Hamlin. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Peggy was a selfless, sweet, loyal Christian woman. Her joy was giving to others. She loved sharing her garden vegetables. Peggy wanted to feed anyone who came to her home. Left to cherish her memories are daughters and a son-in-law, Pam McKeaver, Janet and Steve Fulk; grandchildren, Sydney and Carrie McKeaver, Andrew Fulk; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Roger Cook, Judy and Mitchell Sprinkle as well as special friends, Scott, Chrissy, and Dylan Arrington. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Whitaker, sister, Joyce Gammons, brother, Johnny Hamlin and a son-in-law, Chris McKeaver. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Turkey Ford Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Steven Corn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the church. For those planning to attend the service, masks are encouraged. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care given to their mother during her illness.
