Mrs. Perlie Alphie Hall Hiatt, 83, of 1532 West Wensley Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday night, March 7, 2013, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Hiatt was born June 22, 1929, in Patrick County, VA, the daughter of the late Jesse Lee and Ida Belle Bowman Hall. Perlie retired from Proctor-Silex Inc. and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Lance Key of Pilot Mountain, Deborah and Dr. Greg Mathis of Hendersonville, and Amy and Randy Green of Brown Summit; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon and Brandon Shore of Yadkinville, Matthew and Jennifer Key of Pilot Mountain, Alison and Dustin Gosnell, Jared and Anne Mathis, and Bret Mathis, all of Hendersonville, and Haley Green and Max Green, both of Brown Summit; eight great-grandchildren, McKenzie Shore, Gavin Gosnell, Ethan Key, Scarlett Key, Keaton Mathis, Presley Gosnell, Roman Mathis, and Nolan Key; a sister, Eunice Puckett of Greensboro; a brother and five sisters-in-law, Ralph and Ila Hall of Ararat, VA, Delois Hall, Mary Ruth Shaw, and Janice Hiatt, all of Mount Airy, and Polly Hall of Lowgap; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Lee Hiatt, Jr.; a sister, Hattie Eaton; and two brothers, Herbert Hall and J.D. Hall. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Terry Vaughan and Dr. Greg Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
