Peter Voorhees

         Mr. Peter Voorhees, age 96 of Patrick Springs, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart.  He was born in New Brunswick, NJ on May 24, 1922 to the late Richard and Harriet Collins Voorhees.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Kohler Voorhees; his 2nd wife, Viola Craig Voorhees; a daughter, Bobbi Stevens; one sister, Anna Voorhees; and two brothers, Robert and Edward Voorhees.  Peter was a career mechanic working for several businesses and he happily served the farming community in Groton, NY after his workday.  He had lived in New Jersey, Florida and New York before retiring in Virginia and served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He never met a stranger and was loved by all who came to know him.

         Surviving are his children, Suzanne Livingston (Cal) of North Carolina, Karen Simonds (Tom) of New York, Patricia Voorhees (Alan) of New York; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

         Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Pastors Rick Anderson and Allan Vass officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
