Phillip Dale Armstrong

Mr. Phillip Dale Armstrong, age 67, of Ararat, NC, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 09, 2016, at his home. Mr. Armstrong was born in Surry County on November 5, 1948, to the late James Laymon and Eva Ann Key Armstrong. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him. Mr. Armstrong graduated from East Surry High School in 1967. He worked for BellSouth for 30 years and retired in 2004. He was of the Baptist faith and served as a Sunday School director and was an ordained deacon. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Judith Dowell Armstrong; his three beautiful daughters and sons-in-law, Ingle and Chris Sloop, Summer and Tim Hughes, Keri and Justin Brinkley; nine grandchildren, Cameron Sloop, Chloe Sloop, Caleb Sloop, Cory Hughes, Dakota Hughes, Jared Brinkley, Preston Brinkley, Cohen Brinkley and Katherine Brinkley; sisters, Faye Terrell, Frances Cook and Mary Ellen Wells. In addition to his parents, Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Armstrong. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Pardue officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
