Phillip Ray Hawks

Mr. Phillip Ray Hawks, age 53 of Lowgap, passed away on Thursday morning, June 15, 2023, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, after a hard battle with cancer.  Mr. Hawks was born October 28, 1969, in Surry County to the late Dallas and Peggy Hawks.  Phillip worked at Variety Produce in Rockwell, North Carolina, where he made many friends.  He grew up in Cana, Virginia with many cousins, aunts and uncles. His family meant everything to him. Phillip was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Surviving is his daughter, Taylor Kristine Hawks; a stepdaughter, Emily Woods; a stepson, Tanner Woods; grandchildren, Karter Harrison, Houston Woods; a sister, Susan Annette Hawks; two brothers, Steven Hawks, Kevin Hawks; his bonus parents, Kay and Bud Cagle; his cousin and best friend, Joey Cagle; nephews Zack Hawks and Justin Hawks; great nephew Hunter Hawks; along with other cousins and extended family.  Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by his parents.  A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Cana, Virginia with Reverend Bill Spurlin officiating.  Interment will follow in the cemetery.  No formal visitation will be held.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
