Phyllis Poore Jones

Mrs. Phyllis Jean (Meme) Poore Jones, age 78, of Mount Airy, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born January 31, 1940 to the late Arlis Taylor and Nellie Grey Shaw Poore. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Dean and Susan Jones; her only granddaughter, Alexandra “Lexi” Jones; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Douglas Hooker; a niece and husband, Tracey and Craig Basiliere; a nephew, Steve Hooker; several great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, “Bear”. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Skyline Memory Garden. The service will be conducted by Rev. Mickey Cogdill. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 12:30pm until time for Mrs. Jones to be taken to the cemetery for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bannertown Baptist Church, 1835 Westfield Road, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
