Polly McBride Hall

Polly McBride Hall, 85 of Lowgap, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on January 28, 1937, to the late Edgar and Maggie McBride. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. She was a longtime member of Beulah Methodist Church. Polly was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Polly will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law: Pamela and Donald Lawson, Kathy and Ricky White, Angela and Bryan Cave and Janet Melton; her grandchildren and spouses, Emily and Derek Carpenter, Christopher and Jackie Lawson, Jacob and Brooke White, Jordan and Emily White, Joshua and Katie Cave,  Sarah and Wesley Johnson, and a special granddaughter who took care of her for the last 5 years of her life, Jessica and Jesse Lowry; fifteen great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Larry Badgett; a brother and sister-in-law, Edgar (Pete) and Mildred McBride, a special sister-in-law, Debbie Craddock; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her husband, J.D Hall, son-in-law Ray Melton, four brothers, Billy McBride, Raymond McBride, Bob McBride and Don McBride; two sisters Betty Morton and twin sister Molly Jones.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday October 6, 2022, in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home, Mount Airy. Burial to follow in the Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat, VA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 ~ 11:00AM prior to the service.
