Polly Payne

Mary Pauline Hiatt Edwards Payne, age 93, went home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 14th, 2019, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living.  “Polly” was born in Surry County to the late Albert and Macy Hiatt on November 11th 1925.  She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws; Mary and Dennis Stone and Sue and Dale Shinault of Mount Airy, and one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Frances Edwards of Rutherfordton.  She has 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, three sisters Peggy Dickerson, Shirley Watts and Betty Simmons all of Mount Airy.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her first husband Arvin Eugene Edwards and her second husband William Payne; a sister Jacquline Gravely, and brothers Albert Hiatt Jr., and Johnny Eugene Hiatt.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 17th at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints with visitation from 12:00-2:00 pm prior to the service.  She will be committed back to the earth at James Monroe Hiatt Memorial Cemetery in Sheltontown following the service.  The Family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living for the exceptional care and love they gave our mama during her stay there as well as Mountain Valley Hospice Care.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt.
