Mrs. Rachel Lemona Taylor Coleman, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday morning, August 28, 2012, at her home. Mrs. Coleman was born May 21, 1930, in Surry County, to the late Ben and Mamie East Taylor. She retired as a hairdresser and later retired as a CNA. Mrs. Coleman was a wonderful friend, wife, and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member and pianist of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. Mrs. Coleman is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Mary Coleman of Marietta, GA, Mike and Mildred Coleman of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Ben Mark Coleman and Toni Letterman of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Shelley Nichols and her husband, Mike, Melanie Lewis and her husband, Steve, Renee Wright and her husband, Chris, Meredith Barz and her husband, Joe, Randi Riggs and her husband, Tony, Erica Hill, Myra Tucker, Justin Coleman, Rob Nations, Brad Hartsoe, Tony Nations and his wife, Debbie, and Edwin Letterman; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Savannah Johnson, Abigail Johnson, Dakota Lewis, Ella Lewis, Gabriel Wright, Raygan Wright, Sam Riggs, Farrah Riggs, Mason Jester, Taylor Jester, Madison Hill, Damien Nations, and Joseph Nations. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Ray Coleman; two brothers, Louie Taylor and Harry Taylor. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 4:00 PM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Georgia State University Foundation for the Rachel T. Coleman Vocal Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 3963, Atlanta, GA 30303. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
