Rachel Burnett Wood Green

Mrs. Rachel Burnett Wood Green, 76, of Dobson, passed away Friday night, June 10, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born September 2, 1934, in Surry County, to the late Linnie Kyle and Ethel Blevins Burnett. She retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company in Elkin and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ransom Buford Wood; her second husband, Preston Green; an infant son, Donald Lee Wood; an infant sister, Thelma Burnett; and an infant brother, Audie Burnett. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Bonnie Wood Snow of Dobson, Linda and Danny Stanley of Dobson, Judy and David Taylor of Dobson, Katherine and Keith Joyce of Apex; seven grandchildren, Melissa Norman Ashford, Christopher Brian Stanley, Michael Keith Stanley, Gretta Stanley Oakley, Thomas Chad Freeman, Rodney Brad Freeman, and Joseph Kyle Joyce; thirteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Vener Moxley of Lexington and Lavon Vestal of State Road; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Linnie Clarence Burnett and Marie of Burlington, the Rev. Raleigh Burnett and Kay of Dobson, and David and Ronda Burnett of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with the Rev. Raleigh Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in the State Road Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, and memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
