Rachel Crotts Hepler

Mrs. Rachel Crotts Hepler, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in Davidson County on April 12, 1933, to the late Odell and Mae Clodfelter Crotts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Mrs. Hepler was an extraordinary quilter and even taught quilting at Surry Community College and Wilkes Community College Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Stetler and David; her son, Michael Hepler; a son-in-law, George Utz and his wife Sally, seven grandchildren, Amberly Utz Karpinsky and Cory, Brent Stetler and Denisa, Kendall Stetler and Sherri, Kelly Stetler, Benjamin Stetler and Stacey, Alisha Stetler, and Sabrina Hepler Varner and Chris; four great-grandchildren, Levi Stetler, Haley Varner, Madison Varner, and Brian Varner; a special bonus granddaughter, Katie Hooker; two sisters, Alease Crook and Susie Crotts; two very special friends, Ralph and Peggy Carter; a sister-in-law, Helen Crotts; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hepler was preceded in death by her husband, David Alexander Hepler; a daughter, Debbie Hepler Utz; three sisters, Kate Carrick, Betty Lambeth, and Janell Fritts; and by two brothers, Lewin Crotts and Bill Crotts. Funeral services for Mrs. Hepler will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 2:00PM in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy officiated by Rev. Randall Crotts and assisted by Pastor David Spivey and Pastor Keith Ledford. Burial will follow in the Haven of Rest Bible Church Cemetery, Galax, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday one hour prior to the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Hepler family.
