Mrs. Raleigh Fleming McHone peacefully passed Monday, November 2, 2009, and went home to join the love of her life, Joe McHone. She maintained her sense of humor and ability to make those around her laugh and find the fun in everyday life. She was born February 2, 1925, in Guilford County, to Joe and Pearl Fleming. She was a member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church and always stressed the power of prayer to her family. She retired after many years of working in the textile industry and as a private duty CNA. In addition to her late husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Pearl Fleming; two brothers, John Fleming, Sr. and Grady Fleming; and three sisters, Louise Stevens, Mattie Pearl McHone, and Jo Helen Snow. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Joy and Wayne Barlow of Mount Airy and Mary Jo Everhart of Cincinnati, OH; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Donna McHone of Pilot Mountain and Warren and Button McHone of Mount Dora, FL. She was a proud grandmother to eight and loving "GGMa" to eight great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery, with services conducted by the Rev. Jim Mauldin. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Road, Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28210, as Mrs. McHone was a strong, proud survivor for fifteen years.
