Ralph Beamer Dollyhigh

Mr. Ralph Beamer Dollyhigh, 93, of Mount Airy, went to his heavenly home on Monday morning, January 4, 2021.  Mr. Dollyhigh was born June 4, 1927, in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late Brady Beamer and Ethel Lambert Dollyhigh.  Ralph proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps from 1945 until 1947.  He retired as a truck driver from Roadway Express after 32 years of service and was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church.  Ralph was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, and uncle.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Girlene Clement Booker Dollyhigh of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Camden Eaton of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Ruth Dollyhigh and Gary and Celia Dollyhigh, all of Mount Airy; his stepchildren and their spouses, Sonja Conner of Claudville, VA, Sherry and Steve Niston of Mount Airy, Rhonda and Tony Usery of Anacoco, LA, and Elroy Booker of Ararat, VA; his grandchildren and their spouses, Ray and Shana Dollyhigh of Dobson, Shane and Christy Dollyhigh of Starke, FL, Jarrett and Tam Dollyhigh of Lipani, TX, Dan and Charlotte Dollyhigh, Jennifer and Jason Easter, Jason Eaton, and Olivia Billings and her fiancé, Michael Crouse, all of Mount Airy, and MacKenzie and Walter “Junior” Gould of Rocky Mount, VA; eleven stepgrandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; twenty-seven great-stepgrandchildren; a sister, Mary McMillian of Mount Airy; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Bill and Brenda Dollyhigh and Pam Dollyhigh, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Dollyhigh was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Collins Dollyhigh; a son, Larry Ray Dollyhigh, Sr.; three sisters, Ruby Irene Dollyhigh, Gladys Childress, and Dorothy Shinault; and five brothers, Chester Lee Dollyhigh, Otis Dollyhigh, Gray Dollyhigh, Archie Ray Dollyhigh, and Jack Dollyhigh.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Community Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Bradley L. Quesinberry and the Rev. Larry Stone officiating.  No formal visitation will be held; however, family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 12:00 until 5:00 PM and on Thursday from 7:00 until 9:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love, compassion, and tender care shown by the hospice team from Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Dr. Amanda Ford, Amy Poindexter, FNP, April Badgett, RN, Sheila Crawford, CNA, and Chaplain Jonathan Casstevens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or Community Baptist Church, c/o Pam Y. Sewell, 198 Delaware Avenue, Mount Airy, NC  27030.
