Mr. Ralph Everette Flinchum, age 85, of Mt. Airy, husband of Ludie Frances Flinchum, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2006, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Flinchum was born in Surry County, September 22, 1921, to Edgar Jackson Flinchum, Sr. and Rena Mae Flinchum. Mr. Flinchum served our country during WWII in the United States Army in the South Pacific. He was retired from Flinchum Oil Company and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ludie Frances Neal Flinchum of the home; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sue and Dr. Hugh E. Sutphin and Geraldine Johnson, all of Mt. Airy; a brother and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Ruby Flinchum; Ruby Hill Flinchum all of Mt. Airy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mamie Sue and Curtis Brown of Mt. Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Flinchum was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Jackson Flinchum, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Bill Tucker and Rev. Tom Delp. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to White Plains Baptist Church at 614 Old Hwy 601, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
