Mr. Lester Ray Taylor, 67, of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home. Mr. Taylor was born on August 28, 1950 in Surry County to Opal Bond Taylor Williams and the late Lester Otis Taylor. Mr. Taylor was in furniture sales with his brothers for many years, but his passion was for raising roosters. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Opal Bond Taylor Williams; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kaye Taylor, and Penny and Howie Young; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Tammy Taylor; and nieces and nephews, Phillip Taylor, Shayla and Tanner Flippin, Nick Young, Jesse and Shelby Lloyd, JR and Erica Lloyd, Gina Causey, and Mamie and Frank Branson. In addition to his father, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by a brother, Otis Wayne Taylor, Sr.; and a nephew, Otis Wayne Taylor, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:00pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Rev. Ray Hutson and Rev. Darrell Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Venable-Hutchens Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday night at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00pm and at other times at Kaye’s home, 513 E. Devon Dr., Mount Airy.
