Ray Earl Wilhite

Mr. Ray Earl Wilhite, age74 of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Wilhite was the youngest of eight children, born April 2, 1933, in Surry County to the late Henry and Lurinda Rakes Wilhite. He retired from the Surry County School System and attended Gospel Mission Church. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Paul Field of Mt. Airy; a son, Tony Wilhite; grandchildren, Brian and Justin Wilhite, Ronald, Daniel, Jason, and Christopher Martin, Tonya and Matthew Field; great grandchildren, Jordan and Isaac Wilhite. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilhite was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Leanna Mosley Wilhite and seven brothers, Lonnie, Porter, George, James, Ramey, Grover and Claude Wilhite. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with military rites conducted of VFW memorial honor guard Post 2019 of Mt Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
