Raybern Franklin Hiatt

Mr. Raybern Franklin Hiatt, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at his home.  Mr. Hiatt was born April 7, 1940, in Surry County, the son of the late Reid Franklin and Eva Mae Gammons Hiatt.  Raybern owned and operated Raybern Hiatt Floor Covering from 1967 until 2003.  Left to cherish his memory are two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra and Mickey Heath and Penny Hiatt; a son and his fiancée, Tony Hiatt and Angela; six grandchildren and their spouses, Catrena and Steven Whitaker, Santana and Jamie Fulp, Travis and Emily King, Devin King, Hunter and Autumn Hiatt, and Kassi Hiatt; five great-grandchildren, Annabelle Needham, Jake Whitaker, Tate Whitaker, Finn King, and Jameson Fulp; and a brother and sister-in-law, Malcon and Carolyn Hiatt.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Belle Draughn Hiatt.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Kevin Kilby and the Rev. Rickey Martin officiating.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the church.  Additionally, the family will receive friends at Mr. Hiatt’s home on Monday and Tuesday.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
