Raymond Eugene Akers

Mr. Raymond Eugene Akers, 64, of 241 East Elm Street, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Universal Health Care in King. Mr. Akers was born April 5, 1944, in Surry County, to the late Ruby Agnes Akers. Raymond was a night watchman at Perry Manufacturing for many years. He is survived by a son, Roger Lee Akers of Scott Depot, WV; several grandchildren; several cousins; and a special friend, Kevin Wagner of Mount Airy. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 14, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Major Ray Morton. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
