Mr. Raymond Larance Davis, 53, devoted husband of Donna Kaye Cave Davis, passed away Friday August 18, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born in Springfield, Mass. on April 13, 1953 to the late Ralph Wilson and Mildred Morales Davis. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served our country during the Vietnam War. Mr. Davis was employed as a deputy with the Yadkin County Sheriffs Department where he was instrumental in establishing the Yadkin County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard and was the recipient of the Courtroom Officer of the Year. Mr. Davis was dedicated to law enforcement for thirty years and was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church. A loving husband, father and friend, he leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Donna Kaye Davis of the home; two daughters Jamie Michelle and Kayla Patricia Davis both of the home; a sister and brother-in-law Cindy and Ralph Childress of High Point, NC and a brother Robert Davis of Madison, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Bennett. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday August 21, 2006 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Trent Lyons and Rev. Odell Jenkins officiating. His body will lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 9 PM at New Hope Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Jamie Michelle and Kayla Patricia Davis College Fund c/o Wachovia Bank 105 North Main Street Dobson, NC 27017 or to the charity of the donors choice.
