Raymond Dennis Jessup, Sr

Mr. Raymond Dennis Jessup, Sr., 84 of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday evening, November 12, 2016 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Patrick County, VA on April 16, 1932 to the late Hillary Jessup and Laura Tilley Jessup. He was retired from Spencers after many years of dedicated service. Mr. Jessup is survived by his wife, Hallie Elizabeth “Libby” Golden Jessup of the home; daughters, Sharon Gravley, Deborah Creed, and Cynthia Jessup all of Mount Airy; sons, Rayford Jessup of Westfield, Roger Jessup of Pilot Mountain, Raymond Jessup, Jr. of Westfield, Kenneth Jessup of Francisco, and Bobby Jessup of Rural Hall; a step-son, Rodney Hawks of Mount Airy; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Hayden of Mount Airy, and Helen Moorefield of Norwood; brother, Otis Jessup of Claudville; and a special friend, Mary Ellen Jessup of Claudville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jessup was preceded in death by his first wife, Ollie Jessup; a daughter, Linda Jessup; a son, Phillip Jessup; a sister, Betty Lou Bean; two brothers, Alvin Jessup and Burton Jessup. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tony Goins and Rev. Deward Scott officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night, November 15, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery fund, 497 Hatchers Chapel Rd., Claudville, VA 24076.
