Raymond Mastin Nixon

Mr. Raymond Mastin Nixon, age 86, of Elkin, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the States Veterans Home in Salisbury. He was born October 22, 1932, in Surry County to the late Reece Mckinley Nixon and Mary Etta Edwards Nixon. He was a retired stonecutter and a veteran of the United States Army Veteran of the Korean War era. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: two sisters, Helen Weddle, and Lois Lewis. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Nixon; grandchildren; Phillip Gwynn, Timothy, and Susan Gwynn and Christopher Gwynn; great-grandchildren, Emma, Ryan, and Montana; a sister, Lorine McHone; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the Mountain Park Cemetery, with Reverend Tim Burton, officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 2019. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
