Raymond Howard Reeves

Mr. Raymond Howard "Slim" Reeves, 69, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, August 3, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Reeves was born June 19, 1940, in Surry County, to the late Austin and Ruie Faw Reeves. Mr. Reeves retired from Proctor-Silex Inc. after many years of service. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gordon Howard and Lesa Reeves of Rural Hall; a stepdaughter and her husband, Vicky and Alan McAuley of Palm Bay, FL; two grandchildren, Justin Howard Reeves and Tanner Harrison Reeves; a stepgrandson, Chandler Hull; four brothers, Marvin Reeves of Bassett, VA, Don Reeves of Old Henry, VA, Austin Reeves, Jr. of Lowgap, and Elbert Reeves of Deberry, FL; and his girlfriend and companion of 9 years, Alice Bowman of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by an infant sister; and four brothers, Sidney Reeves, Otto Reeves, Jack Reeves, and Uriah Reeves. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 6, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the wonderful care given to Mr. Reeves during his illness.
