Rebecca Lorene McCormick

Mrs. Rebecca Lorene Wood McCormick, age 91, of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, at Surry Community Health & Rehab.  Mrs. McCormick was born in Surry County November 15, 1927, to William Green and Lola Betty Wood.  Earlier in life she worked at Perry Manufacturing and later became a dedicated caregiver at Central Care.  During her time at Surry Community Nursing & Rehab, she was not only a very active resident she was also considered “family”.  She was dearly loved and she loved everyone there.  She was the resident council president.  She will be sorely missed.  Among the many who will always cherish her sweet memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Woltz Lowe, Linda Carolyn McCormick, Diane McCormick and fiancé, Marvin Capper, Becky and Wayne Watts; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Annie Ladd and husband Clay; and many dear friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCormick was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Alonzo McCormick; a daughter, Susan McCormick Nadeau; a sister, Lettie Eller; and brothers, Fred Wood, Grady Wood, and David Wood.  Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM, Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Hank Robertson.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Libby Willard, 5102 W. Pine St., Mount Airy, NC 27030.  The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Surry Community Nursing and Rehab for the wonderful love and care shown to Mrs. McCormick during her stay there.
