Mrs. Rebecca Bowlin Noonkester, 79, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born June 20, 1934, in Surry County, to the late Lesley Elijah and Minnie Holt Bowlin. Mrs. Noonkester was a retired beautician and a member of Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church in Ararat, VA. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, George Stephen and Elaina Noonkester of King and Brian Dallas Noonkester of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Amanda Delaine Noonkester, George Matthew Noonkester and his wife, Kristen, and Brandon Kyle Noonkester; a great-grandson, George Wyatt Noonkester; a sister, Jewel Bowlin Edwards of High Point; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James R. Bowlin of Columbia, SC, and Edsel "Buck" and Minnie Bowlin of Martinsville, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Noonkester was preceded in death by her husband, George Dallas Noonkester; three sisters, Avis B. Marion, Clara B. Johnson, and Rachel B. Harris; and two brothers, Ervin E. Bowlin and Elijah Lesley "Les" Bowlin. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder David Kamoda and Elder Gary Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Noonkester Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
