Reed Troy Galyean

Mr. Reed Troy Galyean, 81, of Lowgap, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011, at his home. Mr. Galyean was born March 22, 1929, in Grayson County, VA, to Jim and Bertha McRoberts Galyean. He was a retired sawmiller and devoted to his loving family. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and the Rev. Randy Bartley of Lowgap; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Shelby Galyean of Lowgap and Ronald Galyean of Mocksville; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Hattie and Sherman Thompkins of Lowgap; a brother, James Galyean of Mount Airy; and a special friend, Almeta Carson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Galyean was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Felts Galyean. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Woody Flippen officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
