Reid Davis Tilley

Mr. Reid Davis Tilley, 97, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007, at Surry Community Nursing Center. Mr. Tilley was born May 4, 1910, in Surry County, to the late G.W. and Mary Fulp Tilley. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Adams-Millis Corporation. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Phillip Snow of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Folger and Nancy Tilley of Mount Airy, Michael Tilley of Ararat, and Frankie Tilley of Stuart, VA; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Juanita Boles of Germanton and Gladys Manring of Rural Hall. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tilley was preceded in death by his wife, Evie Childress Tilley; a son, Buford Tilley; four sisters, Audrey Jessup, Eva Cain, Ethel Truelove, and Lillian Moser; and three brothers, George Tilley, Otis Tilley and Edward Tilley. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 3, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Roby Wilcox and the Rev. Larry Phillips, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Folger and Nancy Tilley, 223 Holly Hill Drive, Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted.
