Reida Patricia Lester

       Mrs. Reida Patricia Newman Lester, age 54 of Martinsville, Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Martinsville on October 5, 1964.  She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar C. Newman; step-father, James Walter Mabe; granddaughter, Morgan Patricia Wilson; and special nephew, Joseph Reed Sink.  Reida will be remembered for her happy disposition that was at times silly, she never met a stranger and had heart of gold.  Reida took great joy in being Granny to her beloved grandbabies.

       Mrs. Lester is survived by her children, Amanda Marie Newman and husband, Fernando, Reida Lynn Wilson and husband, Joshua, all of Martinsville; an adopted son, Dennis John Travis of Martinsville; nine grandchildren; mother and step-father, Geralean Day Mabe and Clay Burgart of Horsepasture; her siblings, Aaron Todd Day of Woolwine, Raven Patricia Newman of Bassett, Robbin Patricia Higgs of Martinsville, Leeia Newman Sink of Horsepasture, and Nadine Hendricks of Spencer; several nieces and nephews; best friend, Robert Barclay of Australia; and husband, Ricky Lester of Martinsville.

       Funeral services for Mrs. Lester will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart.  Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Fund.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
