Remonia Faye (Atkins) Edwards

Mrs. Remonia Faye Atkins Edwards, age 90, of Mount Airy passed away on Monday evening, February 17, 2025, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Edwards was born on November 15, 1934, in Surry County to the late Paul and Sadie Dollyhigh Atkins. Faye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her children, Karen (John) Kubecka, Basil (Beverly) Edwards, Jimmy (Deborah) Edwards, George Franklin Edwards, II (deceased) and Donna, Lorrie (Jeff) Horton, Danny (Melissa) Edwards; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Sparks, Lucy Wall, Ruth Hawks; a brother-in-law, Joel Edwards; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband George Franklin Edwards; a son, George Franklin Edwards, II; a grandson, Brandon Dale Edwards; two sisters, Pansy Atkins Allen, and Stella Atkins Marion; and three brothers, Melvin Atkins, Harvey Atkins, and Chester Atkins. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Christopher Burnette and Reverend David Tucker officiating. A private interment will be in the Martin-Semones Family Cemetery in Gladesboro, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4599 Snake Creek Road, Hillsville, Virginia 24343. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
