Retired Master Sgt. Jimmie Flanner

Retired Master Sgt. Jimmie Flanner, age 90, of Westfield, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the SECU Hospice Center in Yadkinville.  He was born January 27, 1928 to the late Raymond and Nancy Dalton Flanner.  Mr. Flanner enlisted in the U. S. Navy to bravely serve our country during World War II.  He reenlisted in the US Air Force and served during the Korean War and continued his career to retire after 23 years of service.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  With his contagious smile he was always ready to share a joke and show his strong love toward his family.  Left to cherish his memories are his partner of 28 years; Rosemarie Gentry; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Flanner Klakowicz and Jim, Rebecca Flanner Wright and Patrick Conant, and Rosemarie Ebert; sons and daughters-in-law Barry Lloyd Flanner, Bradley Wayne and Bambi Flanner, Buddy Ray and Tara Flanner, Page Flanner, and Thomas and Tongchub Flessa; seventeen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Crystal and Joe Senic, Patty Whitt; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Ella Flanner. In addition to his parents Mr. Flanner was preceded in death by a son; Bennett Aaron Flanner and brothers, Arvil, Ray and Roy Flanner.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Rev. Dr. Neil Routh officiating.  Full military honors will be conducted by U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until time for the service.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the VFW Honor Guard Post Mt Airy Post 2019 or Pilot Mountain Post 9436, 285 Pine Ridge Trail, Pinnacle, NC 27043.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
