Rev. Alonza Allen Holder

Rev. Alonza Allen Holder, Sr. of Woolwine, Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior at his home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.  He was born in Danville on October 14, 1940, to the late Adam Vernon Holder and Doris Lee Scott Holder.  Rev.  Allen Holder was very devout in his faith and served as Pastor in Samuel Harris Memorial Baptist Church in Chatham, Liberty Baptist Church in Skipwith, Zion Baptist Church in Emporia, and Sharon Baptist Church in Danville.  He was known for his dedication to visiting his church members and non-church members alike no matter what their need.  He clenched his salvation on February 5, 1967 and is now at rest with Jesus.

Left to cherish the memories of Rev.  Allen Holder are his beloved wife, Betty Diane Gibson Holder of the home; two children, Alonza Allen Holder, Jr. of Horsepasture, and Donna Holder Gibson and husband, Randy of Woolwine; six grandchildren, Randi Michelle Thompson and husband, Brian, Randy Clay Gibson, Jr., Aubrey Adam Gibson, Aubrey Allen Holder, Matthew Paul Holder, and Katelynn Diane Holder; two great-grandchildren, Colin Zurawski and Riley Thompson; two brothers, Herbert Lewis Holder and wife, Laura and Clarence Wayne Holder and wife, Barbara, all of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
