Rev. Carl William Scott

The Rev. Carl William Scott, 94, of 445 Archies Creek Road, Claudville, VA, went to be with his heavenly father on Friday, June 10, 2010, from Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Scott was born August 15, 1915, in Surry County, to the late Charlie William and Lucinda Hooker Scott. He had given his life to the ministry for over 60 years and pastored many churches. In addition to being a minister, he was also a building contractor. He was a longtime member of Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Wakley Phillips of Claudville, VA, and Conelia and A.G. Puckett of Ararat, VA; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Jesssup, Ava Hutchens, and Alyene and Haywood Young, all of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Deward and Louise Scott of Mount Airy and Herbert and Gail Scott of St. Augustine, FL. In addition to his parents, Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Eunice Rogers Scott; a daughter, Brenda Scott Jones; a son, Carl Alvis Scott; four sisters, Hazel McMillian, Irene Scearce Tilley, Helen Key, and Nellie Marion; and three brothers, Eugene Scott, Paul Scott, and J.C. Scott. The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Tommy Smith, the Rev. Rickey Rogers, and Dr. David Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
