The Rev. Clarence William Scott, 92, of Ararat, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at his home. The Rev. Scott was born April 14, 1918, in Surry County, to Samuel and Mattie Noah Scott. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. The Rev. Scott was a devoted minister for 50 years, having served Mount Ararat, State Road, New Bethel, and Skyline churches. Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Frances Overby Scott of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Bruce Stonestreet of Mount Airy, Billie and Dale Martin of Claudville, VA, Alice and Herbert King of Ararat, VA, Carol and Jacob Moseley of Frederick, MD, and Shelby and Ralph Boldt of Stafford, VA; sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Angie Scott of Mount Airy, Gary and Linda Scott of Elkin, and Phil and Brenda Scott of Elkin; twelve grandchildren; a step-grandchild; seventeen great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Angeline and Kenneth VanHoy of Jonesville; a brother, Glenn Scott of Siloam; and special friends, Larry and Karen Goins. In addition to his parents, th Rev. Scott was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jackie Martin; sisters, Mable Bishop, Edith Flippin, Ethel Tilley, and Eunice Jessup; and brothers, Leonard Scott, Lloyd Scott, and Frank Scott. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church by Pastor Neil Pressley, the Rev. Tommy Smith, and the Rev. Rickey Rogers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors by the Patrick County VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
