The Rev. David Lee Stanley, 60, of Elkin, husband of Patricia Layell Stanley, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 18, 1950, in Surry County, to the late Alvin Junior and Betty Woodring Stanley. As well as a minister, the Rev. Stanley was a gifted carpenter and brick mason. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 41 years, Patricia Layell Stanley of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kimberly and Jason White of Elkin, and Tiffany and Bradley Settle and Lorie Stanley of Hamptonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Amanda Stanley of Elkin; five cherished grandchildren, Hunter and Chacie White, Bryce and Blake Stanley, and Tatum Settle; and five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Linda and Howard Conner of Elkin, Donese Reeves and her fiancé, Rex Lamm, of Dobson, Una and Lee Freeman, Robin and Gary York, and Angie and Gary Crews, all of Elkin. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Mount Herman Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Stone officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mount Herman Baptist Church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their loving, compassionate care. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 in memory of the Rev. David Stanley. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Stanley family.
